My lab will build off my postdoc work (bioRxiv) describing the ability of skin-resident Malassezia yeasts to kill the prominent skin pathogen Staphylococcus aureus. With my expertise in fungal biology, microbial genetics, and various host models, my group will investigate the mechanisms that facilitate skin colonization by Malassezia, and how interactions between Malassezia, the host, and the microbiota/pathogens impact skin health.
